Mary Kaye & Emelia Kaye

From the beautiful 140 year old ranching community of Escalante, Utah and with tight family harmonies and honest songs about the life they live, Mary Kaye and Emelia are helping define the music of the West they love. The duet consists of Emelia Kaye, age 19, and her mother, the multiple award winning singer-songwriter, Mary Kaye. The authenticity of their music emerges from a life of raising horses to ranch work to life in one of the most remote places in the Western United States. They combine traditional trail songs with fresh, contemporary material, and award winning originals. Mary Kaye & Emelia represent a new wave in the genre of western music.

Emelia and Mary take turns singing lead and harmony with beautiful an unique vocals. Mary Kaye plays fingerstyle guitar and Emelia plays ukulele and mandolin. Their performances include songs such as "Hired Hand" by Gail Steiger, the traditional "Brazos River Song," and "Tall Men Riding" a poem by S. Omar Barker put to music. The 2014 Genoa Nevada Cowboy Festival was their debut performance where they received several standing ovations. Since then they have performed at such notable venues as the Arizona Cowboy Poets Gathering, Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering, Eureka Opera House, Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium, and the Utah Arts Festival.
